Her Story

Born in Cincinnati, OH and raised in Concord California Andrea Marshall is a self-taught creative artist and painter.  Her point of view is weaved through her paintings depicting the beauty of the African American Bridal Experience.  After the harsh realities of how black women are perceived and treated in the U.S. as demonstrated in the killing of Breonna Taylor in 2020,  Andrea was inspired to take the viewer on a journey “Under the Veil," to see different narratives of Black Women.  African American women are joyful, hopeful, and beautiful.  “We love and are loved."  Each painting and bride has her own story which is told on the canvas through each brush stroke and color theory. “I decided not to paint faces, I want the viewer to see themselves in each bride.  My hope is that people connect with the brides and celebrate new beginnings and love."
